Description

Rokle Suchá Belá (Suchá Belá Gorge) is the most popular and the most famous gorge in the Slovenský raj (Slovak Paradise). Unfortunately it is quite crowded on weekends in Juli and August. One of the major sights in the gorge are the waterfalls Misove vodopády (Bowl waterfalls, 29.5 m), Okienkový vodopád (Window waterfall, 12.5 m), Korytový vodopád (Trough waterfall, 8.5 m), and Bočný vodopád (Side waterfall, 8 m).

The tour starts in Hrabušice-Podlesok, follow the green hiking trail marking. While most of the tour is not difficult, there are some quite exceptional spots. Waterfalls are climbed on ladders which are drilled to the vertical wall beneath the waterfall, elevated trails are bolted to the wall above the rapids. The narrow path made of cellar grate has either no railing or just a rope or chain along the wall. Surefootedness and no fear of heights are necessary for some parts. As the trail is too narrow for two-way traffic, so it is only allowed to walk the gorge upstream. A via ferrata set is recommended, the route is considered medium difficult.
