Description

The Historická Pivnica Zlatý Strapec (Historic Cellar Golden Tassel) are the cellars of the winery, owned by the same family for three generations. They offer tastings in a Medieval cellar in two tasting rooms. During the tasting of a wide range of memorable Tokaj wines, mostly from their own winery, are presented. The wines not from their winery are Vínum Régum Rex Vinórum (Wine of the King of Wines), selected archival Tokaj wines of various vintages. The tasting includes an introduction into history and technological procedures used in the production of Tokaj wines. Groups best make a reservation by phone or email, individuals just drop by at any time.

We like their attitude: life is too short to drink poor quality wine.

The cellars were dug into the tufa of the region. They are walled with limestone blocks and have the ideal temperature and humidity for maturing wine. 45,000 liters of wine mature in this historic cellar in wooden casks. Te winery also offers customers space in the Medieval cellars to store their own wines. The tasting room is circular, which is quite exceptional for a cellar, and seats 20. During summer you can also sit in the gazebo in the garden, which seats 45.

If you plan a wine tasting, you will probably want to avoid driving afterwards. If you are not in a hotel or pension in the village, you can stay at the pension Zlatá Putňa,which is part of the winery.
