History

Description

Thailand has vast tropic karst areas with enormous caves, many of whom were converted into temples. Wat Tham Saeng Phet is again a cave temple, but this time it is inside a different cave. The temple with its vihara, pagoda, and huge reclining Buddha is located on a andstone plain. The cave behind the Vihara housing a Buddha image is actually a sandstone cave. The glittering rock was namesake, the cave is called Saeng Phet which means Diamond's Glitters.

The temple is dedicated to meditation following the school of Phra Achan Cha Suphatto, the late abbot of Wat Nong Pa Phong in Ubon Ratchathani. Monks from other parts of the country come to this place to meditate.
