Description

Natural Bridge of Arkansas is a sandstone bridge which is, as the name already hints, located in Arkansas. It is reached from US65 north of Clinton on the Natural Bridge Road, which winds down into a forested valley and ends at the car park with ticket office and café. This site is obviously private, and the owner charges a rather small fee, then you are free to make a short hike through the dense forest to the spectacular arch. The bridge is 37 m wide, and the sandstone is only 1.2 m thick at the center. According to local lore, the locals transported wood across the bridge, but its unclear why they would have done this.
