This mine is still operating. The Hidee Gold Mining Company produces pyritic gold and silver ore as the principal product. The ore consits of gold, silver, gold-pyrite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, covalite, copper and various trace minerals. It has assayed as high as 7.90 ounces gold, 14.60 ounces silver and 9.60% copper per ton. Single samples have been as high as 112 ounces gold, 20 ounces silver an 16.5% copper per ton.
Hidee Gold Mine has one special feature: visitors are allowed to mine their own specimen of the gold vein while on tour. The passages are well lit, level and generally high, so this is a rather comfortable tour.
