History

Description

The Caverns is a huge cave portal with an even bigger cavern behind. The Caverns was historically known to locals as the Big Mouth Cave because of its impressive, large entrance. It was equipped with electric light, a stage, and anything else required for a concert venue, including a state-of-the-art sound and light system. The cave is big enough for 850 people in padded chair seating or up to 1,200 people for standing-room only shows. The cave is home to the TV series Bluegrass Underground, which features bluegrass, blues, and more. See their website for videos from the cave.

There is also the possibility to make normal cave tours. The tour actually shows two caves. The first is called Big Room Cave because it has a spectacular chamber which is three football fields long. We are actually not sure how long a football field is. The second cave which is visited is The Caverns.

They also offer Adventure Cave Tours which are cave trekking tours. Helmets, head lamps, and knee pads and must be used.
