Hang Bồ Nâu (Bo Nau Cave, Pelican Cave) is located about 3 km southeast of Ga Choi Islet. It is a portal facing south to the sea with a single huge chamber of about 200 m² behind. The name Bo Nau or Bo Nong (both are pronounced quite similar) is based on the fact that pelicans often take shelter here. According to the locals, it used to be the shelter for thousands of pelicans, but today they are gone, probably because of the frequent visitors. The cave is full of stalactites and stalagmites. There is no development like trails or light, but the cave has a horizontal floor and due to the huge portal no light is required. The cave is a frequent stop on many cruises to Ha Long Bay, but there is no way to visit the cave otherwise.
