History

Description

The hiking trail Heilbronner Rundwanderweg is located on the Krippenstein (2,075 m asl) and is said to be Austria's highest walking trail. The starting point is at the second station of the Dachstein cable car. Of course there are higher mountains and higher trails, but this is a simple and easy walking trail which is suitable for everybody, not a mountaineers path.

The round trip on this trail takes three hours, allowing some rests, the various geologic stops and enough time to enjoy the impressive views. Beneath the geologic history of the landscape, the human use of the area is also important for the development of the vegetation and the karst.

There is a brochure explaining the trail and the stops and the landscape. This brochure is available at the ticket office of the caves and the cable cars.
