Caverna da Mandaçaia (Mandaçaia Cave) is located near Telêmaco Borba, near the small lake named Lagoa da Mandaçaia, hence the name. Actually there are two caverns which were formed by the erosion of a river in sandstone and siltstone of Permian/Carbon age. They have no real name, they are thus called First Cave and Second Cave. The Primeira Caverna (First Cave) on the right is 8 m long and 5 m wide, at the entrance 3 m high but becoming lower and only 1.5 m high at the end. At the entrance is a 5 m high waterfall. The Segunda Caverna (Second cave) on the left side is 40 m long and 6 m wide, almost five times as big as the first. It starts with a height of 5 m but also becomes lower to the end, its height at the end is only 1 m.
