History

Description

乐业穿洞天坑 (Leye Piercing Tiankeng) is a huge tianken (giant sinkhole) with an opening 370 m long and 150 m wide, and a depth of 200 m. It is not the biggest tiankeng in the area but it has a very good access. The visitor walks through a huge cavern which end at the floor of the tiankeng, and offers an impressive view inside out. The cave has 10 m high stalagmites at the entrance, like the patron saint of Tiankeng. Inside there are 5 m high stalagmites and columns, and 4 m high blunt-topped stalagmites.

More spectacular is the chamber at the southwest end of the tiankeng. It has a small skylight in the ceiling with a beam of light shooting down from a height of 108 meters. It makes people feel that the hall is wide and empty. The karstfenster or skylight is named "Angel's Kiss".
