History

Description

Puerta de Orion (Orion's Gate) is a quite spectacular natural bridge and a quite popular site. However, the whole area is full of strange rock formations, which have erratic forms. It is definitely worth to stroll a bit through the area, for all the other rock formation. But the natural bridge is undoubtedly the most spectacular formation, it has two openings 12 m high, is a so-called double door. The opening is 12m high. It was named Puerta de Orion because in December the constellation of the Orion is visible through the upper hole.

The site is open air and freely accessible, so you can visit it on your own. Nevertheless, we recommend to hire a local guide.
