The Sentier karstique de La Romieu-Gazaupouy (La Romieu-Gazaupouy Karst Trail) was inaugurated on the occasion of the Journées Nationales de la Spéléologie et du Canyon (National Days of Caving and Canyoning). The trail is not very difficult as it mostly uses paved roads or forest paths, which are marked with special karst trail signs. With an elevation between 151 m asl and 212 m asl, the trail has a total heigt difference of 218. The duration is given with 4 to 6 hours, which gives ample time to explore the various karst features and read the booklet. The 8 km are typically a 2-hour pleasant walk through the oaks of the Bois de Broustès.
Starting at La Romieu the first stop is the Lavoir Le Coumet, a small pond fed by a karst spring. The Resurgence du Sinaï and the Doline de Mauze are next. Then the Grotte de Mauvezin actually allows a short cave tour, so you should bring a helmet and a headlamp. Please do not disturb the bats.
