Goa Watu Joglo is quite exceptional, as it is not a karst cave. It is located in the row of the Sewu mountains. The rocks here are conglomerates which are insoluble and not karstified, the cave is tectonic cave created by a rockfall. The result are cracks between boulders, so these caves are also called boulder caves or talus caves. There several such cracks, which are connected and there is no development at all. But it is not difficult to visit the caves as the floor is mostly level. More dangerous is the fact that the cave is often flooded by the river during wet season. It should be visited only during dry season, except if you prefer canyoning and have appropriate gear. While there are no tours and no entrance fees, the small number of visitors nevertheless caused the existence of some food and souvenir stalls.
