History

Description

Goa Lowo Trenggalek is known for its population of bats. Gua Lowo actually means Bat Cave, and is the name of the cave. Unfortunately all caves in the area have bats and many are called bat caves, so the added the name of the village to the cave name to make it identifiable.

The length of the cave is given with 2 km, and then it is stated that it is the longest cave in Southeast Asia. That's obviously nonsense, if it was ever true it was at least 50 years ago. Fortunately scientific research goes on an there have been hundreds of longer caves discovered.

But at least the cave is a well developed show cave with elevated trails and electric light.
