History

Description

Ma'ayan Harod (Harod Spring) rises in a cave on the slope of the Gilboa mountain. The cave was named the (Cave of Gideon) after the Biblical judge, who collected his warriors here to fight the Midianites. In the past, the spring created a swamp and a stream whose waters flowed into Nahal Harod. Then the water was collected by a mill canal or aqueduct to drive two flour mills. The remains of this aqueduct can still be seen inside the national park. The remains of the flour mills also still exist, but they are located outside the park. Today the water flows along a clear brook into a large paddling pools for the visitors the national park.
