روستای تاریخی و مدفون حیله ور (Hilehvar Buried Village) is an abandoned village which was built almost completely underground. Its difficult the translate the various names of the town, but it seems the actual name Hilehvar could be translated sunken village, buried village, cunning village, or cheating village. The cunning or cheating thing is obvious: in arid climate with hot days and cold nights an underground house offers a quite comfortable temperature which is the same day and night and all year.
Unlike nearby Kandovan, Hilehvar is not inhabited any more and it is possible to enter some of the houses. We suggest good walking shoes, a torch, and carefulness. It also seems to be much less crowded by tourists, as the tour operators go to Kandovan. On the other hand there is absolutely no infrastructure except for a restaurant on the other side of the road. All the inhabitants have moved to Kandovan long ago. There are no hotels, souvenir shops, or public toilets. And it is tricky to find the village, as there are actually no above ground buildings. However the town was lately cleaned and secured, collapses were fixed, so visits are pretty safe.
