History

Description

The town کندوان (Kandovan) is famous for many cave houses. The rock of the slope behind the town is rather soft and easy to dig, and so the inhabitants dug their houses instead of building them. Of course there are also normal houses, but the high number of cave houses makes this town a tourist town, full of souvenir shops, restaurants and hotels. Numerous hotels seem to be in cave houses, so the easiest way to stay in a cave hous would probably be to stay in a local hotel. Unfortunately there seems to be no cave house museum or a cave hous which is open to tourists. Most will be closed and private property. Nevertheless, there should be a possibility to see the inside of such a house.
