Description

ඉදිකුන්ඩු (Idikundu, Thunder Well) is a karst spring, or actually more like a shallow cenote. The roof of the cave below collapsed forming a circular pond which actually has no outflow, so it is not a spring. Like with other nearby karst springs there is the rumour, that the spring is too deep to determine its depth. Unlike the other wells this one has a bad reputation, as several locals used it to commit suicide.

There are even more creative legends about this well, which actually bear any iota of truth. One is that the well was created by a lightning strike in the early 20th century. Another one tell that it is actually a meteor crater. Both are obviously nonsense.
