Gruta de Carlos Pacheco is another cave in the Parque Nacional Grutas de Cacahuamilpa, located 400 m to the south of the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa. The cave was named after Mexican General Carlos Pacheco, who fought against the French Intervention in Mexico during the 1830s.
Unlike the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa, this cave is not a river cave, it is a 100 m higher level and what is named a fossil cave. This means the cave enlargement process has stopped and the speleothems have time to grow undisturbed by a cave river. The result is a small cave with impressive speleothems. Many of them are rare speleothems like rimstone dams, and helictites.
This cave is not developed as a show cave, but the visit is rather easy as there is a level floor and no technical difficulties. Visits are offered by the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa.
