Cenote Aktun Ha is actually rather dull from the karstologic view: it looks like a normal lake. There are no steep walls, no collapsed cave with stalactites and phantastic light. And in the summer the cenote becomes a thick layer of green algae, so it is not nice for swimming any more. But it is a great diving place. Below 2 m the water is crystal clear even in summer and there is a huge cave entrance with formations formed by the tannin of the surrounding plants.
The cenote is also sometimes called carwash, because locals used to wash their cars here. Fortunately this is not practiced any more.
