Cabagnow Cave Pool or also Cabognaw Cave is one of numerous caves near Anda on the east coast of Bohol, which are connected to the sea and thus contain seawater or brakish water. This may even change during the tides, as well as the water level. A collapse of the ceiling created a cenote like collapse doline, which is used for swimming, similar to the cenotes in Yucatán. The opening is 5 m wide and 8 m long, and the walls are about 5 m high-. Further to the north is Tibaw Cave Pool or Tibaw Dako Cave Pool, which is quite similar but much shallower. The vertical walls of this doline are only 2 to 3 m high on one side, on the other side the direct access to the water is possible without a wall.
The main site is obviously Cabagnow Cave Pool, which is more spectacular. It is entered on a steel ladder to the water, but it’s also possible to jump, as the cave pool is approximately 4 to 7.5 m deep. There is a tide in the cenote of some 2 m. There is a dedicated spot with a 3.5 m drop to the water. Life vests are available, for those who want to enjoy the strange atmosphere but are not sure about their swimming skills.
Both pools are reached from the parking lot on the road to Talisay Beach. There is an entrance fee, a lifeguard, and a maximum of 20 persons in the pools. Also time of the visit is restricted to 2 hours. In other words, it’s more like a public pool than a natural site.
