History

Description

Động Hoa Tiên (Hoa Tien Cave) is located in the karst towers at the southern shore of the Hòa Bình. It is an undeveloped, horizontal cave which is rather easy to visit. There are no vertical sections, nice speleothems, and the surrounding is full of interesting karst features.

There is a circular lake named Hồ mắt ngọc (Fairy Bathing Lake) without inflow or outflow, obviously it is connected with the main lake through a cave. Even the depression itself is of karst origin, moste likely a polje with a diameter of about 500 m. To the south is another circular lake with a diameter of 50 m, obviously a doline. So this area is extremely interesting, but unfortunately it is not developed at all. There are no roads, trails, jetties or whatever.

Still, it seems the locals offer tours into the Hoa Tien Cave. We guess you will have to ask at a nearby tourist information for a guide. Bring equipment for a semi-wild cave, good shoes, helmet with headlamp, probably gloves. Do not attempt to visit the cave on your own, it’s not possible to find it. The coordinates we have are unfortunately not accurate, they only show the general area, and as there is no trail, it is necessary to walk through wilderness. According to one description, it is fortunately only a short hike of about 100 m.
