Động Mã Tiên (Ma Tien Cave) is huge cave portal with a hugh entrance hall behind. The cave is full of speleothems, which are covered in moss due to the daylight. There is a dark section behind, which is rather easy to explore. The cave has several daylights, karstfenster, so it is rather good lighted. Nevertheless, we recommend bringing a headlamp.
The main problem is actually to reach the cave. It is located on the southwestern shore of Hồ Đồng Thái lake, halfway up núi Mã Tiên (Ma Tien Mountain) or núi Roi Ngựa (Roi Horse Mountain) So the journey starts with hiring a boat which brings the cave visitor across the lake to a small temple. From here, a long staircase with 100 stone steps leads to the cave entrance. Inside the cave has no development, the trails are mostly horizontal but uneven. One passage leads upwards to a second entrance, from where the top of the karst hill is easily reached. The view across the lake is quite impressive.
Foreign tourists should probably book a guided tour from a local operator. It's a little tricky to find a boat without speaking the language.
