Description

The Parque Estadual Intervales (Intervales State Park) is mainly a nature protection are which covers one of the largest ecological corridors of Atlantic Forest in the State of São Paulo. The Park has an enormous wealth of species of fauna and flora, many of them threatened with extinction. In addition to offering several routes, with trails, waterfalls and caves, it is a world reference in the birdwatching circuit. The Intervales State Park has three inns for those who want to have the experience of staying overnight in the jungle.

The park has numerous caves and many can be visited. But the caves are rather small, compared to the gigantic caves of nearby Petar. Gruta Dos Paiva and Gruta do Fendão are more than one kilometer long, the others are about 100 m to 200 m long. Two tiny cave with only 30 m length, Gruta dos Meninos (Boys Cave) and Gruta do Cipó are small and easy caves for children.
