Description

The Carran Turlough seasonal lake is considered Europes largest turlough and the largest enclosed depression in Ireland. It is located east of the hamlet Carran. It is also known as Carron Polje. Located at the eastern foot of the Burren karst it is also part of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark. Man ypeople experience the site by walking the 5 km long round trail called Carran Turlough Loop which starts at Cassidy's pub.
