Finland by Province


When we created this page, Finland had 10 län, which may be translated, land, state or province. But they had little autonomy, Finland has always been a unitary state. In 2009 this system was changed, the län were abolished, and the administrative power is now in the hands of 309 municipalities. It’s not helpful to sort 20 sites into 309 subdivisions. The idea of this grouping is simply to sort sites in regions, which should be helpful for planning a journey. We decided to keep this structures, but be aware that the provinces are now considered "historic".
