Subterranean World Heritage List

The World Heritage List ist well known. Nearly 700 man-made and natural sights all over the world are protected by an international treaty, which 52 countries have signed until now. Several of these sights are underground, and we will try to write some comments on each of them. 41 of the existing World Heritage sites contain karst, most of them are in temperate regions.
